~~Norma  Ann Oxford Tyahla, the loving daughter of Ida Firstbrook Oxford, passed away on May 9, 2017 peacefully, at home , surrounded by family and loved ones.
She was a kind, caring, loving and truly courageous women that will be missed by many. She touched the lives of so many people with her contagious smile, friendly personality and the ability to talk to anyone and everyone.  Her devotion to family, commitment to happiness, dignity and pride knew no boundaries. She was a dedicated mother, wife, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She showed her zest of life through her many interests, especially her trips to Atlantic City.
Norma was born and raised in Paterson NJ. She also resided in Haledon, Fair Lawn, Garfield, Toms River and Largo Florida upon retirement. She worked for many years at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson and Becton Dickerson in Franklin Lakes.
Norma is survived by her devoted husband Peter Tyahla, her adoring daughter Michelle Note Munroe and her partner Patrick DiPietro, her loving grandson Joseph V. Bavaro II and his finance Nicole Lopez, their son Joseph V. Bavaro III her adorable great grandson, her lifelong friend Marie Jackowski along with many nieces and nephews all whom admired her strength, positive attitude and faith.
She is predeceased by her beloved sister Marion Oxford Gentile. May God grant them eternal peace together in heaven.
There will be a memorial mass celebration 10:30 am Tuesday, May 23rd,  at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 130 St. Maximillian Lane, Toms River, NJ
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Susan G. Komen in her honor to continue the fight to find a cure for cancer.
