Obituary of Irene Damiano

Irene Damiano (nee Faber), 85, of Hawthorne NJ passed away on March 23 surrounded by her family. Irene is survived by her son Keith Damiano and his wife Patrice of Manahawkin, NJ and her daughter Karen Damiano Rizzo and her fiancé Dave of Cape Coral, Florida along with her beloved grandchildren Megan Perri and her husband Raffaele, Keith Damiano Jr and his wife Patricia, Jessica Rizzo, Anthony Rizzo and his wife Erin, Dominick Rizzo and his fiancé Megan and Deanna Rizzo as well as three great grandchildren, Leonardo and Raffaele Perri and Scarlett Damiano. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Kuiken and her husband Ken of Sarasota, Florida and by many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Ralph Robert Damiano and her parents Gilbert and Lena Faber, her sister Jean Miller and her brother Gilbert Faber. Irene was born in Little Falls, New Jersey on June 9, 1938. She married Ralph in June of 1959 and celebrated 57 years together before his passing in 2016. They raised their children in Prospect Park, New Jersey. Before she retired in 2012, she worked at the Salesian Sisters convent in North Haledon for many years. Irene enjoyed fundraising for the church. They had a family shore house in Beach Haven West, NJ where they spent their weekends and summer vacations surrounded by family and loved ones. Irene and Ralph often enjoyed making trips to Atlantic City for the day. In her early days Irene enjoyed bowling and she loved to volunteer and often helped at the elementary school and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was an avid crocheter and kept her whole family warm with her blankets and especially her slippers. She loved to bake and cook, no one ever left her house hungry. Irene was the first person to show up at your door with a pot of soup when you were under the weather. Irene was a loving, caring and a special person to everyone who knew her. She loved her family very much and enjoyed the years of family gatherings and celebrations. A private service is being planned soon.
