Obituary of James W Carr
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James W. Carr, 73, of Long Beach Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 1st, surrounded by his wife, two daughters, brother, and sister.
James was raised in Clark, NJ and as a child, spent his summers in Ireland traveling with family. James was also a Long Beach Island (LBI) local for 38 years. He took advantage of LBI’s coastline and spent his free time windsurfing. While doing so, he met his wife of 31 years, Eleonora, who survives him along with his two daughters, Bridget, Masie (Matthew) and beloved dog Delta. James’s additional surviving family includes brother, Vinny, and sister, Debbie.
James started his career in manufacturing, but his true passion was as an educator. James transitioned into teaching after he received his Master of Science in Education at the age of 55. He was an educator of primarily 7th & 8th grade classes for 13 years at All Saints Regional Catholic School (ASRCS, now known as St. Mary Academy), Manahawkin, NJ. Mr. Carr specialized in the education of Math and Science, most notably introducing hydroponics and robotics programs into the ASRCS learning curriculum. Mr. Carr’s genuine passion for sharing his knowledge extended beyond the classroom, he had a vested interest in each student, as well as their future beyond education.
At the age of 70, James retired from teaching, but his enthusiasm for learning did not stop there. James spent his retirement years studying aviation and flew as a pilot of a Cessna 170. He also spent his early mornings filling donuts at Ferrara’s Island Bakery, Ship Bottom, NJ.
