Obituary of William Tanis Sr.

William Tanis Sr., a long-time resident of Dingmans Ferry, PA, passed away on July 20, 2023, at the age of 72. William is survived by his wife, Carole Tanis (née Van Slooten); his son, William Tanis Jr. and his wife, Annalise Tanis (née Kaylor); his daughter, Kelly Amaral (née Tanis) and her husband, Jaeder Amaral; his grandchildren, Rebekah, Eva, Saoirse, and Freya Tanis, and Ian Amaral; and his brothers, Thomas Tanis, and Joseph Tanis. William is preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius, and Eva Tanis (née Marks); his sister, Anna Rusciano (née Tanis); and his brothers, Cornelius Tanis, Peter Tanis, and Leonard Tanis. William was born on April 27, 1951, in Paterson, New Jersey. He spent half of his life in New Jersey before moving to Pennsylvania with his wife and children. He started his career as a mason, but later moved on to a better opportunity at Titanium Fabrication Corporations, where he held several positions during his career spanning over two decades. William always enjoyed the outdoors. In his youth, he often went hunting with his brothers and friends. He was an avid fisherman, spending a great deal of time at the lakes near his home, teaching his children to fish. Later in life, his true passion was his grandchildren. His face would light up anytime he spoke of them. He was known for spoiling them with treats, “Pop dollars,” or the knowledge of how to get into trouble without Grandma finding out. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 26th, at 11 am, at Calvary Baptist Church 850 Railroad Dr., Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087. Interment will follow at the Tuckerton Greenwood Cemetery on N. Green St., Tuckerton, NJ. Please join the family for a repast following the interment, to be held at the Calvary Baptist Church.
