John Russell, 78, passed away on May 17th, 2023 at AtlantiCare in Galloway Township, New Jersey after suffering from a lengthy illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia, his daughter Shannon Kaplan (Joseph), his son Jonathan (Denise), Carleen Johnson, his two sisters Elizabeth Chambers (John), and Jacqueline Constantine (Robert), his grandchildren Noah and Gracie, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. John was born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 15th, 1945. At the age of 11, he traveled across the Atlantic Ocean to build a new life in America. John entered the military after graduating high school from Atlantic City High School in 1963. After spending 4 years in the Air Force, John came home and started a career at Lenox China that would last over 27 years. During this time, he met his beloved wife, Pat and was married in 1969. Soon after, his children were born, making his family complete. John continued his education at ACC, and earned an Associate’s Degree in Business. Although John had a good life, he battled the disease of addiction; however, he regained himself through GA, and became a strong advocate for recovery. John was active in his church and became a pioneer for the food ministry. John will be remembered for his gift of humor by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of life service will be held at Beacon Evangelical Free Church on Sixth Avenue in Galloway Township, N.J. on Sunday, May 21st. Family and friends may call at 1pm and a short memorial service will begin at 2pm. A light luncheon will follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Beacon Evangelical Free Church food ministry.
