Obituary of Charles Mize

Charles Mize, 66, passed away on June 14, 2022 in the early morning. His sudden loss took his daughter and many family and friends by surprise. Charles was born in Jersey City, NJ, but spent a lot of his life at the Jersey Shore before moving to Alabama with his wife Susan and daughter to try to get Susan a heart and lung transplant at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Charles and his daughter Samantha recently moved back to New Jersey in 2018; first to Whiting, NJ and then to Manahawkin, NJ. Charles had many jobs over the years, but he spent the last 17 years of his working years as a public works employee for the town of Lipscomb, Alabama. He retired in September of 2011. Charles was a loving father who taught his daughter Samantha about life and his love of helping animals. He is survived by his daughter Samantha Crossley and their Terrier mix Sophie; his sisters: Ruthann (Chuck), Donna (Alan), Ellen (Larry), and Robin (Larry); Brothers: William and Jimmy as well several nephews and nieces. Charles is preceded in death by his wife Susan; mother Helen; father Step-father William Sr.; Sister-in-Laws Peggy and Pat; beloved dogs and a cat. A memorial Mass was held Saturday, July 2, 2022, at St. Mary's of the Pines RC Church in Manahawkin, NJ.
