Obituary of Joseph Cupo

Joseph Cupo passed away peacefully after a short illness on October 16th, 2019.   Joseph was born and raised in Newark NJ.  He was the youngest of 8 children born to Nunziato  and Cristina Cupo.  He was predeceased by his father Nunziato, his mother Cristina, his brother Peter, his sisters Marie, Christine and Mildred, and grandson Nicholas. 

Joe worked for many years for the Federal Pacific Electric company in Newark.  He worked for several fire safety companies before becoming a life and safety officer at Kean University in Union.  He worked there for 9 years before retiring in January 2003.

Joe loved going to Atlantic City and playing table games.  He enjoyed watching and wagering on thoroughbred horse racing with family and friends.  He liked doing word search puzzles and was an avid reader (especially the racing forms).

He is survived by his loving Son Joseph and his wife Kathy, his Daughter Lorrie and her husband Bob, 6 beautiful granddaughters and 1 great-grandson. He is also survived by his brother Nunzio,  his Sisters Catherine and Theresa, and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation Service will be private.   A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in his honor to continue the fight to find a cure for cancer.
