Obituary of Kathleen P. Maloney

Kathleen P. Maloney, 74, of Little Egg Harbor passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019.

Kathy was born in Stroudsburg PA to Anne and Donald Putnam. Towards her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse she attended Marywood in Scranton PA and graduated from Elizabeth General Hospital School of Nursing.

As Kathy transitioned into different nursing positions, she found her true calling in home care and hospice. After she joined Southern Ocean Home Health of Southern Ocean County Hospital she presented a Business Plan to the board detailing the need to add hospice care to their existing home care options. Kathy's compassion, vision, and management skills developed what has become an important service for patients and their family members during end of life decisions. Kathy said, "Hospice is not giving up but living the best you can until it is time."

As important as her work was, just as important were the people in her life. She had a personality that drew people to her. She had friendships she cherished from all phases of her life - childhood, her children's childhood, different jobs, different addresses. As life changed, she just expanded the circle of people in her life and family. She was quick to share a laugh. She also was a woman with opinions and to know her was to know those opinions - she wasn't shy about sharing those either.

She will be missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years William, her daughter Therese, son Michall, daughter-in-law Nora, her grandchildren Garren and Flynn, sister Joanne, sisters-in-law Elizabeth and Patricia, and nephews Jesse, Gary, and Jeffrey. 

A funeral mass will be at St. Francis of Assisi Parish at 4700 Long Beach Blvd Long Beach Township on Monday June 3 at 11 am followed by a repast at the church.
