James Walter Applegate, 80, passed away at home surrounded by his family. Walt was a 1955 graduate from Toms River High School, and a resident of Ocean Gate for almost 50 years. Walt was a long time employee of Ciba-Geigy and United Computer Maintenance. He was also a life-long NY Giants fan, NY Mets fan, loved NASCAR, boating and living at the shore. Walt was pre-deceased by his wife of over 52 years, Janet, his parents Elmer and Alice, his son Timothy, and his brothers Richie Applegate and Jerry Lee. Surviving are his daughters, Linda Applegate, Ocean Gate, Cathy Riola and her husband Jim, Lakewood; sons Jim Applegate Jr. and his wife Christine, Estero, FL; Richard Applegate and his wife DawnAnn Applegate, Forked River; and Mike Nimmo, and his wife Brenda, Bayville. In addition, grandchildren, William Mosser, Victor and Darissa Applegate, Rob and Rachael Foley, Katie and Ali Bahlouli, Jennifer Nimmo, Taylor Applegate, Garrett Applegate and Blair Applegate. Great-grandchildren Angelina, Annalise, Bryan, Harper, Liliana and Aria. Also his brothers Len Applegate, George Lee and his lifelong best friend Bob Toscan. There are also too many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends to name. Cremation was private. Any donations could be made to the American Cancer Society.
