Chester Roger Shingle, 79, passed away on May 31, 2026. He was born on August 26, 1946, in

Pottstown, Pennsylvania to Chester Shingle and Emily Shingle.

Chester proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He

enlisted in October 1963 and was stationed in Germany with Company A, 3rd Battalion, 32nd

Armor, where he worked as a tank driver. After returning home, Chester spent more than 50 years working in the trucking and house-moving industries. He loved being on the road and enjoyed the freedom that came with it. Along the way, he gathered countless stories and experiences that he was always happy to share.

Chester was known for his love of telling old stories and sharing memories from his many years

on the road. Family and friends will forever remember his favorite saying, "I'll tell you what,"

usually followed by one of his many tales and a good laugh.

He is survived by his daughters, Jillian Martin, Shelly Shingle, and Courtney McCarten; his

grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many dear

friends.

Chester was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly McCarten; his parents, Chester and

Emily Shingle; and his siblings, Darlene May, Leona Marie, Sandra, Anna, and Howard “Sonny.

For over 20 years, Chester shared a home with Chris and Sue McCourt, Ryan McCourt, Erica

McCourt, and her husband, Bobby.

Chester's stories, laughter, and enduring love for family will be remembered by all who knew

him. Though his final journey has ended, the memories he leaves behind will continue to travel

with those who loved him.
