We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Edward T Reed Jr., who departed this life peacefully on May 27, 2026, in Manahawkin Township, NJ, at the age of 77. Born on January 11, 1949, in Hoboken, NJ, Edward was the cherished son of Mary Reed and Edward T Reed Sr.

Edward proudly answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy and serving honorably aboard the USS Hancock during the Vietnam War. His commitment to his country was a source of pride throughout his life.

After his military service, Edward began his professional journey at Lilly Tulip, and then spent the majority of his career with Paul’s Trucking Corp., where he was a proud member of Teamsters Local 863. His strong work ethic and loyalty did not go unnoticed by friends and colleagues alike.

Edward was a devoted family man, a proud veteran, and an active member of VFW Post 2179. He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah L Reed, with whom he shared 28 years, and together they made Little Egg Harbor their home for the past two decades. Edward’s memory will forever live on in his four children: Susan Tremmer (Tod Tremmer), Doris Miller (Brian Miller), Christine Rongo (Anthony Rongo), and Edward T Reed III (Patricia Reed), as well as his 12 grandchildren. He is also fondly remembered by Sharon Reed, his former wife and mother of his children, who shared 21 years with him in raising their family. Edward is further survived by his sister, Doris Ramme of Brick, NJ.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Mary Reed and Edward T Reed Sr.

In keeping with Edward’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine's RC Church, 110 Bray Ave., N. Middletown. Please join us to honor Edward’s life and legacy on Saturday, June 20th, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Monmouth County SPCA, a cause close to Edward’s heart.

Edward T Reed Jr. will be remembered as a caring family man, a steadfast friend, and a proud veteran whose legacy will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
