Henry Surace, 85, of Smithville, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born on September 18, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, Henry was the son of Philip and Mary (Polisano) Surace. He spent his early years in Brooklyn before later moving to Vineland, New Jersey. Henry worked for many years as a Union Painter at Caesars Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, until his retirement.

Henry deeply enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his love of good food, especially a delicious bowl of mussels, as well as his warmth, humor, and the memories he created with those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Theresa Surace of Smithville and her fiancé Mark Genovese of Florida; his stepchildren, Daniel Seda Sr. and Jeanie Seda of Vineland; and his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Ajay Reves of Florida; Nicole and her husband Dan Robert (Donna Marie and John Paul) of Pennsylvania; Philip Surace and his wife Kim (Amora) of South Jersey; Nicholas Surace and his wife Yulissa (Nico and Luca) stationed in Washington State; Gianna Macera and her partner Terry Dorman (grandpup Lana aka. “Lani”) of South Jersey. He is also survived by many beloved step grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, his sister, Angela Bennett and her husband Arnold of Vineland; his sister-in-law Maureen (Pat)Surace of Vineland; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Henry was preceded in death by Marie (Gargano) Surace; Sara Surace; his parents, Philip and Mary Surace; his sons, Nicholas and Philip Surace; his granddaughter, Natalie Surace; and his brothers, Pat and Philip Surace.

Funeral arrangements are under Polhemus Cremation Services.A private family service will be held in his honor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
