Virginia R Vetrulli Obituary

Virginia Ruth Vetrulli (Foster) peacefully went home to be with Jesus on April 23, 2026, at the age of 97.

Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband Mike, her son Michael, and her daughter Cheryl.

She is survived by her loving daughter Dawn (Eddie) Doelp; 4 cherished grandchildren Eric (Kassie) Doelp, Mike (Caitlin) Doelp, Drew (Becky) Doelp, and Caitlin (Mike) Ney; and 5 precious great-grandchildren, Emmie, Fitz, Nolan, Porter, and Vanna.

Born in Philadelphia, she and Mike raised their family there before she moved to Smithville, NJ, in 1992. She quickly made friends, became active with the Smithville VIPs, enjoyed doing water aerobics, and could be seen at the Smithville gym walking on the treadmill at the age of 85 to the amazement of the other gym participants and staff.

Ruth loved yard sales and always came home with “treasures”. She could finish a good book in a single day, and enjoyed playing poker slots in Atlantic City. It was an amazing sight to see how quickly she pushed those buttons. But most of all, Ruth loved her family!

In 2018, Ruth moved to a new apartment at Countryside Meadows where she made many dear friends and looked forward to Saturday Morning Coffee Klatch, Fellowship, and Bingo. In 2025, she moved back to Smithville to live with Dawn and Eddie.

Ruth was a member of Beacon Church where she enjoyed day trips and parties with Vintage (the senior group) and lunch after church with “The Lunch Bunch”.

Ruth will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends and forever remembered for her gentle, kind, thankful, and loving spirit.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ruth’s life on Thursday, April 30th at Beacon Evangelical Free Church. 420 S. 6th Ave. Galloway, NJ.

Visitation will be from 12-1pm, with service fo follow at 1pm. Burial will be private.

Because of Ruth’s heart for children, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ruth’s memory to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) or Smile Train (another of Ruth’s favorite charities).
