Phyllis de Blois Obituary

Phyllis L. de Blois, 67, of Tuckerton, NJ, unexpectedly passed away on November 2, 2025. Phyllis was born July 24, 1958, to James P. and Joan L. Wentworth of Riverton, NJ, where she was also raised. Predeceased by her parents and sisters Gail Brawn (Larry) and Marjorie Wentworth, she is survived by her brothers Douglas Wentworth and Matthew Wentworth along with her husband, Patrick de Blois, and daughter, Laura Escher de Blois. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Donna Kudra (George), brother-in-law David de Blois (Janine), mother-in-law Elizabeth Rickett (Charles), and many nieces and nephews.

After finishing High School, Phyllis served in the United States Navy until she was honorably discharged from service in 1980. She then graduated from Burlington Community College with an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, and in 1985, she started her 37-year computer programmer and test engineer career with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), now General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). She traveled the country supporting and updating the operational Air Traffic Control system and retired in 2021. It was here that she met lifelong friends and her future husband, Patrick. They were married for 37 years and had their daughter in 1992.

Phyllis loved to frequent the beaches of Long Beach Island, NJ. She arrived with a treasure trove of various gummies, a concoction of water and blue Listerine to keep the greenheads away, and excitement to look for new seashells for her already massive collection. She loved her family, always sending her nieces and nephews a birthday card and coming to all her adult daughter’s doctors’ appointments. She took pride in her home, decorating it to create a cozy atmosphere and making sure a guest could eat off the floors if they wanted. She was an example of a true friend, remembering every small detail or date, and showing up to give her unwavering love and support. She was unapologetically herself, and never afraid to do what was right no matter how embarrassing for everyone else around. A lifelong Doctor Who and soap opera fan, you could find her watching them with her Boost and plain pretzels in hand.

Phyllis was giving, caring, and legendary. The glue to her family, who you called in a desperate situation, and a person able to get done what no one else could. She was an unforgettable force, and will be missed by all who knew her, no matter how brief the interaction.
