Elizabeth Regina Urbanek Flockhart (Nana, Mom, Toots)
October 28, 1934 – August 7, 2025
Born in Jersey City, Elizabeth spent her early years helping in her family’s luncheonette, which served the Colgate factory and nearby businesses. She often fondly recalled taking the ferry across the Hudson River to deliver food to office buildings in New York City.
Over the years, she held many roles, including hospital receptionist, government clerk—where she met the love of her life, William C. Flockhart, to whom she was married for 71 years— and later as a bus driver and instructor for the Jackson Township School System, where she worked for 20 years. In the summers she had a Hot Dog Wagon at Prospertown Lake, Jackson NJ and was fondly called the “The Hot Dog Lady”.
She called many home places, including Jersey City, Menlo Park, Tuckerton, Little Egg Harbor, Fort Myers, FL, and Punta Gorda, FL. She was an active volunteer with organizations such as the Boy Scouts, Jackson First Aid, and the SOCH Thrift Shop, her favorite place.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Urbanek; her brothers Thomas (Timmy), William “Sonny,” Joseph “Joey”; her son William “Billy” Flockhart“; grandson Kevin Flockhart; and son-in-law Matthew Park and daughter-in-law Ann Hawthorne.
She is survived by her devoted husband Bill; brother Michael Urbanek; children Fred Flockhart (Pam), Kevin Flockhart (Laurie), and Mary Beth Park; grandchildren Will Flockhart (Katherine), Laurel Flockhart, Fred Flockhart, and Brooke Rogers; and great-grandchildren Christina and Riley Rogers, Briana, Eva, Will, and Jacob Flockhart, along with Logan, Mason, McKenna, Emerson, and Norah Park.
Nana was a force to be reckoned with—practical, grounded, and full of life. She had a mind of her own, supported by a strong will and determination. She fiercely loved her family and friends, and that love ran deep. Many of our friends would stop by just to talk with her, seek her wisdom, or enjoy her no-nonsense advice. She had a gift for making people feel seen and valued, and her warmth, humor, and strength left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was truly loved by many and will be deeply missed.
A private ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to
your local first aid squad or to Meals on Wheels https://action.mealsonwheelsamerica.org/a/mowa-donation-form?ms=ads_gs_search202504_b&source=ads_gs_search202504_b&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20508298452&gbraid=0AAAAApqln3OL1MvHScSjlLj7IdFubade-&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzOvEBhDVARIsADHfJJSxTaoFP-TG0gPnuRlNjB5xc1gt-thXawdiYP1zgJ_dwPYEuRZFWUMaAtFdEALw_wcB
