Obituary of Kathleen Bonassi-Fuhr

Kathleen Bonassi-Fuhr, 63, of Barnegat Light, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in January 1962 in Newark, NJ, Kathy was the cherished daughter of the late Leona and Frank Bonassi, and beloved sister of the late Maureen Jeannetti. She began her career with the U.S. Postal Service in Newark, later transferring to Barnegat Light and eventually Brant Beach, where she built lasting relationships with both colleagues and community members. Kathy was known for her warmth, compassion, and gentle spirit. She took great joy in gardening, attending Healthy Bones sessions, and being an active part of her local happy hour group. She was deeply devoted to her faith and community as a proud member of St. Francis Parish on Long Beach Island. Above all, Kathy treasured time spent with her family and close friends. She is survived by her devoted husband of 21 years, Frank; her loving son, Frank; and her dear sister, Maryann. She will be remembered for the kindness she extended to others and the quiet strength she carried through life. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Long Beach Island. A repass will follow at Elements in Manahawkin at 12:00 p.m. To honor Kathy’s generous spirit, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause she held close to her heart.
