Obituary of John A Faber
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Allen Faber, 89, of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 24, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 8, 1935, in Prospect Park, NJ, to Garry and Klazina Faber, John lived a life rooted in faith, family, and quiet strength. In 1948, fate brought Josina Pilaar into his life when her family immigrated from The Netherlands—sponsored by John’s own family. What began as a childhood connection blossomed into a lifelong love. John and Josie married and shared 65 beautiful years together until her passing in 2021.
Together, they built a home in North Haledon, NJ, where they raised their three children and created a foundation of love and tradition. In 1996, they retired to their cherished vacation home in Cape Cod, MA, where they spent 23 joyful years surrounded by nature and family memories. In later years, they returned to New Jersey to be closer to those they held most dear.
John was a man of many passions. He found joy in fishing, clamming, gardening, and cheering on his favorite teams—the Giants, Mets, and Rangers. In his later years, he lovingly cared for Josie and discovered a new talent as a baker and cook, sharing his creations with family and friends. He was known for his captivating stories, drawn from a life rich with experience, wisdom, and humor.
He is survived by his sons Garry Faber (Kathy) of Boca Raton, FL, and John Faber Jr. (Karen) of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; his daughter Patrice Damiano (Keith) of Beach Haven West, NJ; and his beloved grandchildren: Ryan Faber, Kelly Faber, Corianne Bartoli (Christopher), Katlyn Bakkar (Yahya), Megan Perri (Raffaele), and Keith Damiano Jr. (Patricia). John was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Constance and William Faber, Carter and Callie Bartoli, Kaiya, Taj, and Amira Bakkar, Leonardo and Raffaele Perri, and Scarlett Damiano.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Josina, his parents Garry and Klazina Faber, his brother Alvin Faber and his nephew Craig Faber.
John was a gentle soul with a generous heart. He adored his family, cherished time spent together during holidays and summers, and left behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion. To know him was to feel his quiet kindness and unwavering presence.
A private family celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. He and his beloved Josie will be returned to Cape Cod, their special place, for their final resting place together.
